I always wanted to take a picture in front of the Las Vegas sign. If you don’t already know this sign is on the south end of the strip greeting northbound visitors from California etc. There is nowhere to park here and there was many people in ‘line’ to get a picture. As I drove by the first time, there was a wedding party there already taking pictures so we came back a little later and pulled off on the side of this busy street and I hurried to setup the tripod and the camera with a timer. I told the boys to each find a shape as the timer went off.

Xander (second from left, 9yo) planned to jump when the timer went off. I didnt know he had done this until he ran for the camera and switched to the preview and yelled “I totally nailed it !!! ” He jumped just as the timer went off, catching him mid-air under the Las Vegas sign.

This picture is actually 5 pictures merged together using Canon PhotoStitch. The original image is in the middle and I snapped 2 more on each side to make it wider making 5 total.

The picture has become one of my favorites. Not because of the sign itself as I had always thought but because of the elaborate planning of a 9 year old.
